Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, generating powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Broad Destruction

Residents observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities verified that various areas across the state had been affected by significant hail.
